Oral History Project at SCA 50 Year Celebration

Greetings, all!

The SCA 50 Year Celebration is less than a year away. As part of the History display at the event (in a 60,000 square foot venue, no less), the event staff is working on an NPR-style Story Corps project to record oral histories of experiences in the SCA. There will be recording stations at the 50 Year event, as well as viewing stations for videos that have already been recorded. These videos will be available on a YouTube channel as well. Most of the videos will be under 5 minutes long.

I’ve been asked to take over that project. We need recruiters, interviewers, loggers and editors. This not a Middle Kingdom-only project, but one that should extend to all 20 kingdoms in the Known World. This is a great chance to meet some new people and learn about the history of the SCA.

The long term goal is to integrate all of the oral histories into an ongoing history project for the SCA, with input from all kingdoms. This is a Society-wide project, so don’t be shy.

If you’re interested in helping with the Story Corps, please contact me directly at . Please cross-post this announcement at will.
