As I continue to work on building a representation of our Kingdom’s history, I beg for your inspiration yet again. If you were looking at a list of the great Kings and Queens of the Middle Kingdom, what information would you want to know about their reigns? I am leaving this open-ended, so please feel free to send an email to . I cannot promise to include everything, and it will most likely start simple in the beginning and I can grow it over time. But, I am interested in hearing from YOU! Please post/send comments by this upcoming Friday, March 4th.
Thank you, Lady Marissa von Atzinger

Laurel Survey for the Upcoming Issue of Tournaments Illuminated
As we celebrate our Society completing its 50th year, we look around and see gaps. Dust to dust it is said, but “no one dies who lives within a heart” (Michael Longcor) and we want to share those who are lost to time but living in our hearts at this time. So, whether it is a person or some kind of entity (households, groups and events) that is no longer part of the fabric of our lives, the Shield Wall will be a highlight at the 50th Anniversary Celebration Event to share with the attendees (and hopefully on our website.)
We invite citizens of all 20 kingdoms to visit our website, http://sca50memorial.org/ , and submit as many entries as you’d like for this project. We can give you the opportunity to submit your entry online via our convenient webform or you can mail us your entry.
At this time, the Midrealm has submitted 11 entries.
Greetings unto the Populace of the Great Middle Kingdom.
In the Society for Creative Anachronism, we are a collective of volunteers, each serving in their own way at one point or another so that all may have a chance to play, enjoy, learn and have fun. It is on this mantra that the SCA has gone on for 50 years now, and shall continue to do so.
To that end, I am seeking those artists of any medium to take up an opportunity to give to the volunteers. What volunteers you may be asking? To give back to the volunteers that will be helping at SCA 50 year. For every hour a volunteer donates of time at 50 Year, they will earn a raffle ticket. They may drop said ticket into a raffle for one of the item prizes, to be drawn at the end of the event.
But what prizes? That’s where you come in. We are seeking out items from the talented populace of the known world to have for the volunteers to chance with their tickets to win. We’re not looking for purchased things, but handmade items that people would buy/make/trade/commission for themselves. If it will be a specialized item to be done after winning (IE: a painted portrait or a custom coin) that is great as well. We would like the item to be of around $50, but obviously that is for you to judge what your work is worth. This is a great way for you to contribute to 50 Year and be seen, in a way, even if you cannot make it to the event.
Items can be mailed to myself, or delivered at 50 year if you are attending. If you would find it in your heart to donate to this cause, and payback to those that will be helping setup, take down, and do various setups through 50 year, please contact me at with the following information.
SCA Title and Name
Item to be Donated
To be mailed or delivered at 50 Year
Any additional information / description of your item you wish to include (including pictures of your work if it’s a ‘after raffle’ item.
As a thank you, I’ll be doing a raffle of my own, and two artists will be drawn to receive gift cards to get more supplies (or whatever you want to do with the money).
I thank you for your time and hope we will have some amazing items for the volunteers that give time for others to play and enjoy the event. Please feel free to copy and share this so that many may see it.

Greetings unto the good people of the Middle Kingdom from your Tsar and Tsarina!
For many months now, We have heard the rumblings of war far to the south of Our lands. As your Monarchs, we can no longer ignore these portents of hostilities. We have commanded our Dragon General to assemble the army and begin a progress to the Kingdom of Gleann Abhann and Gulf Wars! We hope as many of you as possible may join Us for a fantastic time of fighting, feasting, filking, and general merrymaking! If you are heading down, please see Us for your official Middle Kingdom car sticker so that you may recognize your kinsmen on your travels!
On a different note, Her Royal Majesty has been asked several times during Our reign about a particular accessory she wears. In Her own words: (more…)
In October of 2013, I was sitting at a Command Symposium during a break, and listening to people tell stories of friends who had been unable to attend Pennsic. This person had unexpectedly lost their job. That person was an eager college student who just didn’t have the funds. Another person had just had a baby, and money was too tight. All of the stories had a common thread – fencers who loved the Society and wanted to help the war effort, but couldn’t because of financial strain.
Thus came the idea – Why not start a Scholarship, driven by fundraisers throughout the year and supported by the rapier community? The Middle Kingdom Pennsic Scholarship Fund was born. (more…)
After a long and successful tenure as Baron and Baroness of Flaming Gryphon, Dafydd and Meriel have requested that they step down and a new Baron and Baroness be selected as their replacements. Four sets of extremely worthy gentles stepped forward, any of which would have been outstanding successors. After reviewing the Baronial poll results We are minded to install Edward Foxley and Allegra Ginevra Soave da Napoli as the sixth Baron and Baroness of Flaming Gryphon. They will be elevated to their new station at the Grand Tournament of the Unicorn (April 2) in the Marche of the Unicorn. We have full confidence that they will govern over Our lands in a just and honorable manner.
