Dragon Herald December Missive

Greetings unto the Middle Kingdom College of Heralds and the populace of the Midrealm from Konrad Mailander, Dragon Herald.

First, I would like to commend Master Daniel Eysham of Tweed and His Lordship Piotr Zavilov for their long service as Midlands and North Oaken Region Heralds. Thank you both for your dedication to your region and the Kingdom.

With all things, though, there is a time to change and I am opening the Lincoln Herald (Midlands Regional) and Oaken Herald (North Oaken Regional) offices. The Regional Herald is responsible for collecting reports from local group pursuivants, heralds, and pursuivants at large

in their Region, reporting on a quarterly basis to the Dragon Herald, facilitating heraldry-related activities, maintaining a roster of the heralds and pursuivants in the Region. To be eligible, you MUST be a paid member of the SCA. Candidates for this position should have at least a moderate level of skill in a broad range of heraldic practices. Interested gentles should send a letter of intent and SCA “résumé” (any previous offces held, participation in heraldry) to the Dragon Herald at by January 15, 2017.

I would also like to see the offices of the deputy for each Regional Herald to be filled. These deputy offices serve as emergency backups for the Regionals, ready to take over the Regional office if needed. They should also work with the Regional to support heraldic activity in their regions and report to their Regional quarterly. Requirements are as listed above for Regional Heralds.

Open deputy regional offices are the following:

  • Lakes Pursuivant — Pentamere Region
  • Lunar Pursuivant — Constellation Region
  • Prairie Pursuivant — Midlands Region

Interested gentles should send a letter of intent and SCA “résumé” to the Dragon Herald at by January 15, 2017.

Lakes and Lunar I would like to fill as soon as possible. Prairie will be filled after the new Lincoln Herald has been chosen so they can have some input on the decision.

In Service to Crown and College,

Konrad Dragon
