From the Kingdom Exchequer, January AS LI

exchequersmGreetings unto the Exchequers and populace of the Middle Kingdom

As you read this missive it is the beginning of a new calendar year and the end of our fiscal year. There have been changes over the past year to policies, procedures, and people in various positions. Some of these changes have been easy while others have been more challenging to implement and accept.

I understand that this is a volunteer organization and sometimes our “real lives” must take precedence over our SCA lives. I am in the same position as the rest of you – a full time job, family, and, in my case, a farm. When we decide to take on this position, we need to be cognizant of the responsibility that we are taking on with all of the attendant policies and procedures that we must follow. We must be the person who is communicating this information to our fellow officers and the populace at large.

A large part of our responsibilities revolve around reporting the activity that occurs within our borders over the course of the month and the year. It is the end of our fourth quarter and fiscal year. Although it is Domesday season, groups are still required to file a 4th Quarter report unless you are given a waiver by your regional. Waivers may only be granted to those groups who have demonstrated ongoing faithfulness to the monthly and Non-Member Registration reporting deadlines.

With our changeover to the cumulative and monthly reporting system earlier this year, Domesday reporting should be somewhat easier than previous years. Please make sure that you contact your regional exchequer or the Domesday deputy if you are having difficulty or have questions. It is very important that your Domesday reports are completed and submitted on time. The due date for Domesday reports is January 31. Problems should be addressed before the due date, not after.

In closing, I want to thank all of you for your hard work over this past year and years before. I truly appreciate your thoughtful diligence to your groups, to your kingdom, and to the Society.

Respectfully and with thanks,
Kateline
