The A&S Minister’s Letter, March AS LII

Greetings from Una Wynifreed Berry to the people of the Middle Kingdom

I would like to thank everyone who made Northern Oaken Arts and Sciences Fair successful. Thank you to the Shire of Falcon’s Quarry for sponsoring it, and to the judges, the entrants, and Fair staff for all your hard work.

Remember, the goal of the Regional Arts and Science Fairs is for constructive feedback. The goal of the Kingdom Arts and Sciences Fair is for competition. I am looking forward to seeing all the great entries that are following Arts and Sciences Fairs:

  • March 10 – Southern Oaken – Marche of Winged Hills
  • March 31 – Constellation – Barony of Sternfeld at Better War through Archery
  • April 14 – Pentamere – the Canton of Nordheim
  • April 21 – Midland – the Shire of Ravenslake

Please remember to read and understand the rules of Middle Kingdom Arts and Sciences Fair, especially as there have been quite a few changes this year. The links for the new criteria and rules are located on the KMOAS Page. Your Regional Minister of Arts and Science will be glad to help you if you have questions. We need entrants and judges to sign up a week before the Fair. We also need people to be runners, monitors, and assistants in tally room. Please contact the Regional MOAS officer if you can help. All are welcome at any time during the Fair to look at the entries.

There is an opportunity to support the Middle Kingdom by going to Gulf Wars. There are Arts and Sciences classes available in Al-Mahala, Early Period Life, European Dance, Equestrian,Coursing, Page School, Performing Arts, and Scribal Arts. Try doing the Gulf Wars A&S class challenge. You can go and see the Early Period Life Village or the Artisans’ Row. There is an A&S Display open to all, regardless of skill level or kingdom affiliation. There are plenty of A&S Competitions including Bardic Competitions, Seven Heavenly Virtues or Seven Deadly Sins costume contest, Artisans’ Row Sheep to Purse Competition, and the 3rd Annual Secret Squirrel Competition. I look forward to seeing you there!

I would like to thank Mistress Keely the Tinker for serving as the Deputy of Judges’ Education. We are sad for her moving out of kingdom, but the Kingdom of AEthelmearc gains a wonderful educator. I have this and several other positions posted on the Job Board in The Pale. Please apply.

To quote an old mentor of mine, “Have fun and make stuff!” Please keep learning and sharing what you learn with the kingdom.

Mistress Una Wynifreed Berry
Kingdom Minister of Arts & Sciences
