From the Middle Kingdom Chronicle, April AS LII

Greetings, all!

My term as Middle Kingdom Chronicler is at a close, and I want to express my gratitude to everyone that I worked with during this time. I want to thank all of the local and baronial chroniclers who are keeping the records and history of the Midrealm safe. I especially want to thank the regional chroniclers (Kirsten, Jahanara, Muriel, and Elena) for keeping tabs on things in their regions. Your
help and vigilance is greatly appreciated. A special thank you to Mistress Genoveva, who took over the thankless task of producing The Pale every month. Finally, I cannot thank Mistress Genoveva and Mistress Marissa enough for selecting the William Blackfox Award entries for the Midrealm last summer while I was on medical leave.

Updating the Middle Kingdom web site has been an ongoing project for the last three kingdom Chroniclers, and I’m happy to report that you will see the results of those efforts starting in May 2018. It’s been a long, uphill battle on this project, and the end is finally in sight. Kudos go out to Master Rijckaert for coding the new site, and to his team for testing it prior to release.

Please remember to send historical information on your groups, households, etc. to Mistress Marissa, the Kingdom Historian, lest our collective story be lost to the ages. She has put together a really good kingdom history web page. The role of the Chronicler is evolving as the SCA moves, slowly, from a print based information system to one that utilizes the web and social media. There’s a lot more to come in the next few years, and I look forward to following that progress.

It was an honor and privilege to serve as a Great Officer of the Dragon Realm, and to help guide the course of this great kingdom for a brief time. I was amazed and humbled with helping to make the magic happen for the past three years.

In service, I remain,
Gunnar Sigurdsson, OP
