Serving the Kingdom as Dragon Herald is something that I have wanted to do for a long time and I have greatly enjoyed having the opportunity to serve in this office and on Curia. As many have heard by now I have been chosen to be the next Baron of Red Spears and will be invested as such at Baron Wars on June 24th. Because of this it is with a mix of joy and sorry that I will be stepping down early as Dragon Herald.

The position of Dragon Herald, in addition to its ceremonial duties (and privileges), is primarily an administrative and leadership position in the Kingdom and the Midrealm College of Heralds and Scribes. The ideal candidate must be a warranted herald with at minimum a working knowledge in ALL aspects of heraldry and heraldic offices, be very familiar with ceremonial protocol, and will be an organized individual comfortable with delegation and working with heralds and scribes of all levels, other Kingdom officers in Curia, and the Crown; including those from other Kingdoms. Qualified applicants will have strong organizational, inter-personal, and written communication skills, and will be capable of tracking multiple tasks, deadlines, and of working efficiently with a large staff of deputies.

The individual accepted for this position will assume the office by this coming Coronation in the Fall of AS LII (2017).

Heraldic Job Openings: Opinicus Pursuivant and Incunabula Pursuivant,

Greetings,

Thora Grimudottir, Opinicus Pursuivant, has informed me that she needs to step down from that office.

Therefore I am looking for applicants for Opinicus Pursuivant and Incunabula Pursuivant, which is currently vacant.

Opinicus is responsible for sending notifications to submitters after decisions are made at the Kingdom or Society level. They need to take each decision and expand it into a personalized letter. Notifications are sent by email through the Online System for Commentary and Response (OSCAR). They also need to track who has picked up notifications and send notification by mail if not picked up or in cases without email addresses. Opinicus is a deputy to the Rouge Scarpe Herald.

The Incunabula is Opinicus’ deputy. The ideal is to have Incunabula Pursuivant in training to take over eventually as Opinicus. If they want to split the responsibilities that is also acceptable. In the past Incunabula handled Kingdom notifications and Opinicus the Society level ones.

These are primarily administrative offices but at least a basic knowledge of book heraldry is beneficial. These are important positions to the heraldic process and I would like to have them filled as soon as possible. If you are interested or have any questions contact me at herald@midrealm.org by May 25th.

In Service to Crown and College,

Konrad Dragon
