As the time for change comes, we see officers changing over or preparing to change. Opportunity comes in many forms to serve the Kingdom and Society, and if you look to the Job Board in this issue of The Pale you will see the ways you can help. Many hands make light the work, and without our officers doing their jobs, we would not have an SCA to play in. (more…)

From Their Majesties, December AS LII

Greetings to the Middle Kingdom,

Our deepest thanks to the Barony of Carraig Ban for hosting Our Crown Tournament. We were impressed with the comportment of both the combatants and their inspirations. The tournament was well-fought and We are very pleased to have Alric and Katherine as Our Heirs.

Mistress Halla has stepped down as the Kingdom Minister of Arts and Sciences. She has Our thanks for her work in the office, most especially for her work on revising the criteria for the A&S faires. Sofya Chyudskaya Smolyanina has agreed to serve as interim KMOAS. We thank her for agreeing to serve in this capacity.

We look forward to seeing many of you in Our upcoming travels.

Next Dragon Herald Chosen

Greetings unto the heralds, pursuivants, and scribes of the Middle Kingdom College of Heralds and greetings unto the populace of the Middle Kingdom from Meister Konrad Mailander, Dragon Herald.

It is my pleasure to announce that my successor as Dragon Principal Herald of the Middle Kingdom has been chosen. At the Coronation of Cellach and Vukasin II on September 23rd, His Lordship Jean Yves de Chierebourg will step up as the 22nd Dragon Herald of the Middle Kingdom.

It has been my pleasure to serve the kingdom in this office. My thanks go to the members of the College of Heralds of the Midrealm, it has been a delight working with you all in this role. The College of Heralds is invited to come up and be participants in the changeover ceremony during evening court of Coronation.

Lastly I wish Jean Yves luck in his tenure as Dragon Herald.

May this missive find you all well as you gather around the hearth with friends and family for the Twelfth Night season.

The winners of the William Blackfox Award for A.S. 50 were announced recently. These annual awards honor excellence in publications for the entire Society, and cover publications that appeared between May 2015 and May 2016.

There are two sets of awards, one for local newsletters and one for kingdom newsletters. A winner and commendation is selected for each category. Let’s look at the local awards first. (more…)

Law Changes Read into evening Court 9/24/2016 at Coronation in the Shire of Narrental

III-108 The Great Lords and Ladies of State are: Kingdom Seneschal, Dragon Herald, Earl Marshal, Kingdom Minister of Arts and Sciences, Kingdom Chronicler, Kingdom Chancellor of the Exchequer and Kingdom Chatelaine.

VI-501 No person under 18 years of age may fight or be fought for in any Crown Tournament in the Middle Kingdom. Emancipated minors may be exempted at the discretion of the Crown on a case-by-case basis, but proof of emancipation is required.
