Kriemhilt promoted to rank of Herald Extraordinary

Done in Court with Their Majesties permission at Crown:

The College of Arms has a rank of Herald Extraordinary that has a long and honored history. The rank was formally created and defined in the 16th year of the Society by William Laurel. The intent of the rank is to recognize and reward “…those heralds who have greatly served the College of Heralds and/or the College of Arms and have achieved the highest level of competence in heraldry.”

In light of their considerable contribution to the Midrealm College of Heralds through service as Fenris Herald, Dragon Herald, Meadows Herald, deputy to the Pale Herald, and my own Emergency Deputy it is my pleasure as Dragon Principal Herald to confer the rank and style of Herald Extraordinary on Kriemhilt von Ebersberg and charge her to register a title of her choosing with the College of Arms.

From the New Kingdom Chatelain

Hail and well met to all who read this missive!

I am Jack Black of Flint, successor to Maestra Giovanna Adimari, as your Kingdom Chatelain. I thank Maestra Giovanna for her years of effort on behalf of the Kingdom and populace, as well as the trust that she and our Curia are placing in me. ((Here’s hoping I live up to it! *laughs*)) (more…)

Job Opening – Dragon Herald

Greetings unto the heralds, pursuivants, scribes, and populace of the Great Middle Kingdom from Meister Konrad Mailander, Dragon Principal Herald.

Serving the Kingdom as Dragon Herald is something that I have wanted to do for a long time and I have greatly enjoyed having the opportunity to serve in this office and on Curia. As many have heard by now I have been chosen to be the next Baron of Red Spears and will be invested as such at Baron Wars on June 24th. Because of this, it is with a mix of joy and sorrow that I will be stepping down early as Dragon Herald. (more…)

June Dragon Herald Pale Letter

Greetings unto the heralds, pursuivants, scribes, and populace of the Great Middle Kingdom from Meister Konrad Mailander, Dragon Principal Herald.

Serving the Kingdom as Dragon Herald is something that I have wanted to do for a long time and I have greatly enjoyed having the opportunity to serve in this office and on Curia. As many have heard by now I have been chosen to be the next Baron of Red Spears and will be invested as such at Baron Wars on June 24th. Because of this it is with a mix of joy and sorry that I will be stepping down early as Dragon Herald.

The position of Dragon Herald, in addition to its ceremonial duties (and privileges), is primarily an administrative and leadership position in the Kingdom and the Midrealm College of Heralds and Scribes. The ideal candidate must be a warranted herald with at minimum a working knowledge in ALL aspects of heraldry and heraldic offices, be very familiar with ceremonial protocol, and will be an organized individual comfortable with delegation and working with heralds and scribes of all levels, other Kingdom officers in Curia, and the Crown; including those from other Kingdoms. Past experience as a regional Herald or as other senior Dragon Staff member is preferred. This position is a direct report to the Crown and Laurel Sovereign of Arms of the Society.

Qualified applicants will have strong organizational, inter-personal, and written communication skills, and will be capable of tracking multiple tasks, deadlines, and of working efficiently with a large staff of deputies.

This position is a member of Curia and will advise the Crown on matters of the Kingdom. This position is also a member of the Kingdom financial committee, helping to advise on the use of Kingdom funds. The individual accepted for this position will assume the office by this coming Coronation in the Fall of AS LII (2017).

Applications should be submitted via e-mail to both me at herald@midrealm.org and Laurel Sovereign of Arms at laurel@heraldry.sca.org, and detail your skills and experience in the College of Heralds, in offices held in the Society and Kingdom, and/or mundanely if this will add to the well-rounded picture of your qualifications. Last but not least, please tell me why you want to be Dragon Herald and how you think you can add value by holding this office.

Applications are due by July 15, 2017.

The Kingdom Exchequer Speaks!

Greetings unto the Exchequers and populace of the Middle Kingdom.

I am excited to say that our PayPal Deputy Exchequer, Alays Salle (), held the first Epay training class at Ceilidh in April. She will be visiting events in different regions of the Kingdom over the year to provide the training, but is also offering it as long distance training using an online system. Please contact her about taking the training course if you are interested in offering online advance registration for your event.

Due to the tremendous work of our local group exchequers, Regional Deputy Exchequers, and Domesday Deputy, we submitted our end-of-year reports to the Society within a timely manner. Please take a moment to say thank you to your local exchequers and join me in thanking the following deputies:

  • Constellation Regional – THL Elayne Gwenhlian De Belleme
  • Midlands Regional – Lady Bojei Temur (former) and Lady Gillian Eleanor of Roseholm (current) North/South Oaken Regional – THL Ooyama Tarou Hideyasu
  • Pentamere Regional Exchquer – Lord Tristan Bartolo de la Vega
and a special thanks to the Domesday deputy THL Ooyama Tarou Hideyasu who takes all the information given to him, checks it, and consolidates it to send to the Society.

Unfortunately, I do also need to take a moment to reiterate the necessity of reporting in a timely manner to your regional exchequers. It is a requirement to submit monthly financial reports to the regional exchequer by the end of the following month, i.e., January financial report is due by February 28. This has been in place since early in 2016 and will be enforced (especially now that Domesday season is over). Your regional exchequers will report to me by the 15th of each month with a list detailing which groups are complying with Kingdom policy. Groups not in compliance are subject to sanctions up to and including ineligibility to offer PayPal/Epay registration options, financial probation, and suspension.

I am always available to the exchequers and populace of the kingdom to answer any questions, follow up on any concerns, or offer training. Please feel free to contact me at exchequer@midrealm.org at any time.

Yours in service,
Kateline

Words from the Kingdom Seneschal

Greetings unto the Populace of the Midrealm.

As the winds of change blow across the lands, do the clouds clear and we see a glimpse of the future on the horizon. I want to thank Dame Caitriona MacDhonnachaidh for her time as Kingdom Seneschal and all her good works there in, as well as her deputies, some of who are changing out also. I hope to continue on where she left off, and will do my best for our Kingdom and it’s people. (more…)

Exchequer News, April AS LI (includes PayPal info!)

Greetings unto the Exchequers and populace of the Middle Kingdom:

First of all, I want to take a moment to thank all of the exchequers that have passed the baton over the past several months. In particular, I wanted to thank a few of my deputies who have stepped down over the past few months.

  • Lady Bojei Temur who has served as the Midlands exchequer over the past few years. She is moving on to become our Deputy Exchequer for Training.
  • Signora Elisabetta Morosini di Mettenini is stepping down as the Deputy Exchequer for Training to retire to her estates.
  • Lord Domnaill O’Hodrain was our NMR Deputy Exchequer and is still the local exchequer in the Shire of Cuil Cholium.

Thank you so much to all of you for your dedication and hard work over the years. You have my deep and abiding gratitude. (more…)

Earl Marshal’s Letter, April AS LI

Greetings!

I would like to thank Sir Gebhard for all the hard work that continues to go into the database. We as Marshals, equestrians, rapier combatants, armored combatants and even hound handlers will now be able to make a color copy of our authorization paperwork. We will also implement being able to take a photo of the authorization paperwork and then sending it to Lady Bella the Clerk of the roster. She will accept this via email. The newly-authorized fighter will keep the original paperwork. This should allow for immediate updates to the database and streamline paperwork. (more…)
