A&S Ministers

A&S Minister’s Letter for November

Greetings to the people of the Middle Kingdom from Máistreacht Una.

There was a new Competition called “A Distant Mirror” at Coronation. We had four entries create an object using a picture, illumination, or written description. The goal was to create the appearance of a brand-new object as pictured. Any local group can hold the A Distant Mirror contest. I hope this contest happens at least four times a year.

I would like to thank Mistress Anthoinette de Martel, Mistress Asalah al-Hina, and Mistress Isabel Moundoghter for their work running this Distance Mirror contest and the Coronation Largess display. It was wonderful to see our artisans create objects to be handed out by the Crown. (more…)

Greetings to the people of the Middle Kingdom from Máistreacht Una.

There is a new Kingdom Competition called A Distant Mirror. It will be taking a place at Coronation on September 29 in Howell, Michigan. A Distant Mirror is a contest, a snapshot of objects from history. Hold a mirror to an ancient object and bring it to life. Create a piece of history that looks, tastes, or sounds as if it came from a time in the distant mirror. Use a picture, illumination, or written description as your inspiration. The goal is appearance, taste, sound of a brand-new thing. Judging will be based on appearance, taste, or sound. What to use and how you created your piece will not be considered in the judging. Missive From the Kingdom Minister of Arts & Sciences

Greetings to all the Artists, Craftspersons, Researchers, and Scientists of the Realm!

I hope that if you attended Pennsic this year you were able to sample some of the fantastic classes, performances, and demonstrations that filled every day! And if you taught classes, performed, or did service to help A&S activities at Pennsic, thank you! I am always so proud of how many Midrealmers I see active in the arts and sciences at Pennsic, and always amazed to see all the varied pursuits we bring to share with one another.

Now Pennsic may be over, but September has some amazing events full of A&S goodness waiting for you: September 2-5 RUM RUSH in the Barony of Shattered Crystal, September 17 Botega at Three Towers, and September 24 Coronation, which will also feature Kingdom Craftspersons Faire!

Yours in Service
Halla of Mugmort
